Same lack of hud display with shield (on Ghost anyway), but it is on your ships dashboard display. Shield defaults to bottom left and target defaults to bottom right, but I think they can be switched around. Bottom right is the worst because it gets buried behind chat window.
True but I can't find a way to get at my weapons groupings and stuff.
THAT is the hud I need.
The dashboard display gives me nothing I need and everything I don't at present.
Perhaps the ghost is different too.
I certainly can't head look now and I don't like that either.
It's probably me in some cases but most things have already been reported as issues and some are yes, permanent changes.
It's just typical reluctance to change alpha blues I'm singing.
Of course, no doubt I haven't re-learned the controls a bit too.
There are no missle mounts for the hornet tracker anymore. There has never been a place to mount upgraded shields.
Luckily I didn't spent real $ on my missles.
Basically it appears (to the untrained eye) that they are nerfing the Hornet Tracker.
Sheesh, I backed it based on a certain amount of promised gear......I hope the gear is coming back.
These kinds of changes can really affect a person's want to support a game.
It would be nice to have my missles back, my hud back and the ability to turn my freakin' head.
Here, buy a hornet tracker, you can put missles on it. pffffffffffffft. past tense.

It'll come in time. Right? Tell me it will come in time. and...

How do I get to my weapons grouping on the Hornet *"Tracker"* now and does it work on the "Tracker"?
Not the super hornet, not the ghost, The Tracker.

I actually understand why they did what they did with the hud I think.
Less information means less processing required.
psssst. it didn't help. Now put it back. ;)

It's a minor detail. I am still making tons of aUEC easy enough.

I got a M7A laser canon and put it on my Vanguard along with 4 Strikeforce IIs and 4 Rattler IIs. I usually come home with at least 3 missiles, more if I'm just fighting AI pirates. Those guns are just awesome at 1500 meters and closer, and go a long way toward compensating for my general suckage as a combat pilot against humans.

Are you using the gimbal on the Vanguard and if so, what are you using to point it? Very few seem to be flying gimbaled weapons because you need an unusual setup and it is more complex, but seems how you really need to fly such a slowly rotating bird. Why are you staying inside 1500M?

No gimbal. The Vanguard moves pretty well for me, especially if I match speed with the target. As to why I'm staying inside 1500M, it seems these AI pirates in 2.5 like to get in close and trade paint, but I'm also getting hits at beyond 2000M, just not a whole lot(again, I suck!). And have you noticed that if you make quick work of the first pirate at a comm array, the second one almost always runs away if it's a Cutlass? Against a human, after the first couple shots it usually turns into a zoom and boom, with both of us heading at each other at a combined speed of 1600M/S or so, and that gets boring pretty quick.

Okay so I'm like a kid in a candy shop with this new components chart:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13LzkKzDOKIdrhwL5E2n2Co6THa74A2izxn8lykDuPAk/edit#gid=472250922

Has anyone looked this over and begun to look at the possibilities? For instance, looking a the Cooler Tab, several things jump out at me.

1) The Vanduul apparently do not care about cooling to reduce their IR sigs, so IR missiles are worth investigating for fighting them in swarm (except this is compensated for by their very heavy reactors, see below.)

2) Misc has a VERY nice cooler in the Reliant. Combined with the smallish reactor and engines this is a cold running ship.

3) S2 Coolers weigh 5X as much and do 10X the cooling. Fitting one stock in the Cutlass makes it obvious they are going for very low IR sig. I have not seen this noted before. Likewise the Lancer comes with an S2 cooler, which is no doubt why there have been some rumors of it being stealthy in some ways. I'll bet the Turtle comes with an S2 as well.

Moving on to the Hull Tab, OMG!!! Who has data like this outside CIG?! How would you measure this? This must be a CIG working document. Look at this! There is too much here to note, but just for instance:

1) Comparing the Hornets hull values against the Reliant is enlightening. The Reliant is only about 10% lower, but its wings are higher. The fact they break off in the combat vids so often and easily my be a function of the moment arm involved in such long wings, and may have more to do with asteroid impacts and size of target than any intrinsic lack of hull or armor. Worth investigating.

2) The Vanguard has about 3X the hull of the Hornet, and is 3X the target so not too bad. The Tali has twice the hull of a Vanguard which is certainly NOT ENOUGH to take the beating it is supposed to be able to. Be warned. It appears the Tali is both slow and vulnerable.

3) I'm loving studying this chart, as it tells you just where to shoot to disable and how long it ought to take a single Joker to penetrate. If you're hunting a Lancer, shoot one of the wings off right away and it is at your mercy.

And the POWER Tab! Should really read "Reactor" but hey. . .reading is still telling. Whether the Reliant really has one or two reactors, it is equipped for huge power use. Wearing just Jokers, one could probably lose the hot JUST Endurance for an Aegis Regulus and further reduce both EM ad IR sigs, and oops. . .you don't lose any power generation.

The big thing on the Reactor page though, has got to be those 0.10 IR modifiers for the S2 Vanduul reactors. They're big and heavy and have very poor efficiency, but if I read this right they put out almost no heat. This would appear to more than make up for the terrible coolers they have, so check the above from the Cooler page.

Certainly though, Vanduul and Xian technology is planned to work very differently than UEE, so there will be interesting combinations to be discovered.

I needs to chew more. . .the Shield Tab. . .OMG. . .

Some general observations on shields:

The Reliant comes with crummy shields--just 800 points protection and low regeneration rate. This explains why they're so seemingly fragile, so plan to upgrade the shields on this boat. It may be something like the GODI Forcewall can go in which is 2,800.

Shield choice is very complex. Of special note, it does appear they decided how they affect your EM sig. It appears a straight multiplier, either 1.40, or a chosen few which are 1.25. You'll want one of those for your stealth applications. Certainly it is true you will be more stealthy with them off, which is what I was hoping for. Each has delay times, recharge rate and a lot of other complexities it seems they have yet to develop. Fascinating. It looks like they have already given this a lot of thought as compared to things like thrusters.

The sizes on this chart do not correspond with those in the official ship-specs page: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ship-specs The Lancer has very powerful S2 shields, not S4 and S5 shields. S3 shields are for larger ships like the Tali. The Redeemer is suspiciously absent from the chart. The Hornets appear to be an important exception to the general rule that good fighters (like the Sabre) have S2 shields, as it is slated for an S3 shield, and does NOT come with the best shield for that ship. Most of the Hornets come with 3,200 points protection, but the SH comes with 5,400 and it does not appear that is the best shield that will fit. According to this chart, the Connie's shields will fit in a Hornet, and if you can handle the extra mass, it appears the Tali's shields will fit. I don't get this at all, but that's what it looks like to me--up to 12,000 points protection in some Hornets. Hard to imagine.

Some of the shields have astonishing regeneration rates. That may not help you much against Vanduul who have very powerful weapons, but against weapons intended to fire constantly and wear you down, that could be a great option, so there are even reasons to swap out shields for specific missions. Vanduul and Pirates form very different threats. Note, none of the detail is in the chart about the various different kinds of damage, but apparently some shields are better against energy and some at physical.

Given the numbers as they are in general, it does not look like it will be possible to attack more than the smallest of ships with 8 Jokers and expect their shields to go down before the Jokers run out of burst. This is going to make piracy much more complex and dangerous. Certainly for quick, clean disabling attacks you need more than one fighter for anything sporting S2 shields. With 8 Jokers, about half the S2's would come down if all your shots were on target, but they would not be. This removes a lot of the pressure to monoboat a pirate or privateering ship with all Jokers. Fly with friends.

With all these variables, the table makes it seem you will have serious advantage if you know what shields an opponent is flying.

Is there anyone here who owns both a Hornet and a Connie or Tali, who can check and see if the larger ship's shields really fit in the Hornet? Honestly it seemed to me the whole size designation with pipes and all was designed specifically so people would not be able to do this, so I can't see why Tali's and Hornets have the same shield size.

Likewise, anyone wit a Connie and tali who can check if the Tali shields will fit in the Connie?

iirc You can't change out shields as of 2.3.

bought 2 cf 117 + 1 cf 227 for the 350r...then i went to put the twin racks onto the mounting points that don't exists :( think i'm gonna wait for the revamp lol

the only ship that i would want to mess around with is my freelancer MIS but I gotta wait a lil longer on that one too :/

The missle pylons on 300-series were disabled in 2.5 for some unknown reason.

I'm actually very excited about this because that means CIG is actually working on the rework, and there's a good chance it drops by 3.0.

The regular hornets like my tracker lost their missle mounts too. They totally messed up the hud as well.
I tried the Super Hornet this weeekend. Very nice. It still has a decent hud. I want one. Oddly, I found the warden Vanguard a more durable fighter even though it handles like a truck. I'll be watching those two ships.

Yes. CIG is working on the MFDs which will be needed in the larger multi-crew ships.
This is the first 'pass' with testing them.
This will change, especially in single seat ship. We will get the option to turn this ON/OFF.

What is missing, on some ships, is the VIS or helmet display.
As you stated, you can still get the info by Holding Z and W-A-S-D. This is not helpful in small fighters.

We are still assisting CIG in testing/troubleshooting at this stage so things will change.
It is easy to forget this while we are having so much fun each day.

It will get better.
I TESTed all available ships for the helmet HUD
No VIS:
Avenger
Glasius
Sabre
Warden
Gladiator

I noticed it while I was fighting @Gearen :D
