Just a quick note...
my cheap little Beta... so under appreciated.
I put 4 x m3a (also vastly underappreciated) on my little minnie winnie and ran the ICC mission chain.
Twice.
Was surprisingly effective and more than a little fun.
(Biggest problem is getting out... she's a jealous biwitch and doesn't like you to leave.)

If you have a Beta, go all cannon on it and give her a spin.
Lol not by me, I fill any S1 slot I have left with the M3A, LN, Delta, F7CM. No overheating, better punch per hit.

8 sledges...that would require turret mounts on all the hard points, would it not? Can we do that?
I don't understand what you'r saying. The Saber has 2S3 fixed and 2S3 Gimbaled. That's 8 S2 slots. If you use all Sledge II's you pull like I,600 power, but they never overheat. There's a question how much ammo you can carry, but that seems secondary to me. Some of the nice things about the Sledge are good damage, very fast to target means more hits, and incredible range. I am just thinking how to use the limited stealth to best effect, and if others can't lock on you out past say, 4 km; the Sledge is a super choice for multi-mission capability. Also they have the lowest idle power of any weapon, so they help with stealth--you will have lower EM and IR signatures when not firing than with any other weapon, and even that small signature you can eliminate by shutting them down altogether, since the Sledge has an extremely short charge time (just 2 seconds). It's a great stealth weapon from what I can see, especially if you want to use your stealth to fire while off your opponents screens.

I am also very interested to hear about shield charging time. Do the kinds of weapon one is running and their power draw affect shield recharge times? What is the Sabre's shield recharge like compared to the Hornet and Buck?

I'll give this a try shortly. I don't think that two s2 weapons fit in 1 s3 shot though.

Ah. . .I forgot about the latest, and much more complex weapons system. That may well be, which would dearly suck. It really depends upon the pipes and they haven't released the piping system yet. Do you even have info on where the power from your reactor is going? Is there a power management screen past shields?

That's not something I've looked into as of yet. I'll try to get into free flight a little later and see what options we have on the HUD.

Yes, you need a canard turret like the Mustang or Hornet or you need the twin-linked turret mentioned in several places recently, but not yet available.

The hardpoint piping goes directly into *one* item - turret or weapon. It's up to the turret to split the feeds into multiple weapons.

...additionally, the sizing (with the exception of the tigersteik on the Avenger) is reduced by 1 for gimbal and by 1 for twin link. So a gimbaled twin-link for s2 weapons would need a s4 hardpoint, not s3.

A gimbaled mount on s3 HP lets you mount s2 guns. But twinning them would drop it to s1, like the canard turrets.

Edit: The Bengal has gimballed twin size 249 cannon on a size 999 hp ;-)

I fix all gimbals anyways, so twinning would only cost me one size. I can handle that. Maybe if I rent a few hornets I could transfer over the turrets...
Thoughts are happening now.
Many many thoughts.

Thing is, I don't think they've released any *fixed* twin-link turrets... they are all gimballed whether you use it or not. :-P

But us dual stick pilots can hope...

afaik, twin-linked s2 turrets are not available generally.

I don't see anyway to put 8 weapons on the Sabre's 4 hardpoints.
That would be the same as putting 2 S3 engines on a S4 engine slot.... not very logically, although turrets can hold multiple lower tier weaponsm if the slots support them.

I just tested the free Beta in Vanduul swarms, only 4 S1 M3A instead of the 2 S1 M3A and 2 S2 CF117....:eek::eek::eek::eek: The Hornet that accompanied me left before the first Vanduul was down. CHICKEN!!!!!!
My 1st Beta lasted until wave 16, my 2nd Beta scratched an asteroid in wave 16, lost its engines and got shot down before completing the 16th wave. My 3rd Beta succumbed under the massive waves of missiles and crossfire in wave 18.......:eek::eek::eek::eek:..... even with 4 S1 the Mustang Beta is a great dogfighter!!! Just focus on evasive flight, try to miss the asteroids and you a good to go

I thought this was a great vid for understanding how the current weapons work, and this is not very current.

My thoughts: The Panthers are not better at killing. They did not appear to kill faster, and they certainly required a lot more time on target and a lot more shooting than the other weapons. Even the S2 Omni's killed faster than the Panthers. If the S3 Omni's were out, the chart says they ought to rule.

Personally I think the Mantis and Broadsword work really well. The Tarantula is just a little too slow and would be worse if the targets were further out. Most of this guy's kills are under one kilometer and I still have not seen what the zoom looks like. If you can kill targets at 5km, definitely I would go with the Broadsword since it never overheats.

I'm a huge fan of the broadswords. They have a decent fire rate, enough ammo, and pack a punch.
For energy, I usually run 4 x M5A's off of the Khartu-Al. They, as well, are amazing weapons. I like the slower fire rate with higher damage per shot.
Nothing wrong with either set of weapons whatsoever.
