With the new matrix a lot of things are different now, I only just got around to taking a peek and learned something that makes me happy to no end -

The Gladius will now be able to mount 3, S3 fixed weapons, or 3 S2 Gimbal weapons.

The Gladius is my personal favorite ship for its aesthetics and agility, it was the first ship I bought and later turned into a Valiant after melting the old one. Its agility made up for its lack of firepower in most cases when fighting 1 or 2 people, but it wasn't really able to deliver that much damage to be threatening to ships like a Sabre or Super Hornet. Now I look forward to forming death-squadrons of Gladius' to wreak havoc like never before! Or y'know just dick around in Pirate Swarm or something I dunno...

So what changes are you looking forward to for your favorite ships guys? Maybe a ship you didn't want before suddenly became appealing?

I like that the Cutlass Red will have 2 M shields.
I hope for faster engines like promised in the past, but they are not listed atm.

Btw... im thinking about to strip all my weapons on the Red so that it will be lighter and as fast as possible.
Dont need any weapons on a medic ship, and if im scaned than people will see that im not a threat.

Will see how it works out.

Sounds reasonable but what about NPCs, maybe they'll be smart enough and have some morals that will allow you to continue your journey but it's unlikely, well any way if a player is bad enough to attack an unarmed ambulance then they'll be bountied into oblivion.

Personally, if a player does that, I think it would be karma if the 1st medic on the scene would be the unarmed space ambulance that they had recently attacked who possibly remembers their name. So the medic helps EVERYBODY else before looking into assisting the jerk. Oops

Woops did I accidentally cut out your eyes while I was checking your pulse? I am soooo sorry but don't despair I'm pretty sure they grow back.

I'll go take my medication now.

That's horrible! How can you even contemplate doing that? Take their helmet off to make them comfortable, then depressurize the hull.

I'm still amazed that after all the salt about the 600i Pacer, we see that it is 50% longer and twice as wide as an Aquila as well as being three times the mass. Now I see why CIG was demanding $435 for this thing. 8 fixed vs the Aquila's 12 gimballed maneuvering thrusters is going to be not nearly as agile. If they had explained this during the sale instead of saying that the ship matrix was not up to date, people would have understood better. I'm glad to see that this ugly duckling is really large and different from the Aquila, it clears up, in my mind, what CIG was trying to sell. Also, Origin needs to space Alberto Vara and burn everything he did for them, I still can't look at a 600i Pacer or an X1 Clothespin without shaking my head in disgust.

Or you could stop by them 1st, inject them with what you thought was supposed to be a Medi-Pen to help them recover while you focused on the other injured people. Unfortunately for them, somebody mixed up a the supplies & it was a massive dose of Viagra that you injected them with as the floated there helpless in the vacuum of space. Oops

Redeemer--love that they have added a pair of fixed weapons for the pilot, and now plan 4 turrets sporting pairs of Panthers. High energy load-out, long duration and sustainability in combat but easy to spot. Looks like they made a niche' and if you drop in a smaller reactor and load all ballistic in it, you could have a more formidable but shorter duration and stealthier version. 4 turrets and a pilot now all have guns to point so makes for a reason to have 5 players aboard a single smallish bird. Dollar for dollar this could turn out to be the most powerful ship in game, but it needs 5 players.

Carrack--Making turrets as TBC does not make me happy. It is too late to be reconsidering every ship like this, IMHO. However, I always thought this needed 3XS6 turrets to be the military craft it is slated to be (along with the turrets in the Polaris), so maybe they will boost these? Certainly they are going to boost the price, so they ought to give it more guns.

Vanguards--I love that they have left behind the dopey notion of making the 4 fixed nose guns as not able to be replaced and actually offer three different fills for them depending upon which version you're flying: highest power laser in it's class, ballistic or distortion. Not sure I love they went from 6 to 2 shields on the frame as that means less flexibility in load-out. One of the nice things about 6 shields was you get a humongous refresh rate, and looks like they dropped that. This is still my favorite ship and I love that you can now choose your nose weapons.

Polaris--I hate that they dropped all the turrets one size. Hate it. I HATE when they nerf something they sold for $750 and if I had purchased it I would be pissed. Also note one pair of the S3 missile launchers is now missing--it used to have a pair dorsal and another pair ventral. This clearly demonstrates they are far too cavalier about making changes in things people have already paid for, or that they paid a hopelessly incompetent person to update the page. Hard to say which.

Prowler--Hate that they took 2 of the 4 S4 Ballistic Cannon off, but love that they are considering putting missiles on. If they put 2X3S3 Arrestor III missiles on (inside the wings?), it will be worth losing the cannons, but again, they are looking at changing the general concept people have already bought into, and they should not feel this sort of freedom. It will eventually just piss people off. This bird is much, much more expensive than the closest comparison, which is the Redeemer; and if they nerf it they should expect to face some player ire. $400 is a lot of cash for a relatively small bird.

Hurricane--Hate that they changed the pair of S4 mounts to S3. This bird no longer meets my criteria for the use it is intended for, and it makes me wonder who thought they should change this and why. This is a VERY expensive fighter and if it does not provide huge firepower there is no reason to fly it. If I had paid for this, I would be very pissed.

Banu Defender--IIRC, this used to sport 4XS3, plus good missiles, which was about the same as a Sabre. Now they are stupidly not saying what size guns it has, which makes me wonder about the general competence of whomever compiled this f@^king page.

Do I sound vexed?

Shadow Reaper as a purchaser who has bought the caterpillar seeing your ship built can be such a mixed blessing. Most of those ships you mention have not been built yet so TBC makes sense. The carrack should not be heavily armed if its main purpose is exploration! What is reasonable for self defense though who knows. I do hope it doesn't get parking sensors though, they do not even help you park!

The polaris needs turrets for self defense and taking on fighters, its capital ship weopons are meant to be the torps, even so if it cannot defend itself it will be a joke. Maybe because it can take cargo it will get the caterpillar treatment! Ironically the starfarer got a free pass. So yeah better hope your favourite ship is a Chris Roberts favourite.
