I'm saying it needs to happen. We're too coddled in the US, our government needs to lock us down. There's far too many people still going out and interacting with others. Whole families going out to camping grounds (that are still open) and intermingling with people from other states. Keep those kids at home! No matter how bored they are, inform them this is a big deal. We could have just shut down the world for 2-4 weeks and be done with this, but I suspect it's going to go on for months.

That’s the path we’re headed down here. Gov has said they asked nicely to social distance but most people (the youth) are ignoring it. There will be greater and greater restrictions placed on people if they don’t pull their heads in and do the right thing.

There are things the US Govt. should be doing right now that they aren't. We've been seeing this pattern all along.
If they are waiting for things to get worse before acting, all they have to do is wait 24 hours. If they are waiting for things to get much worse, all they have to do is wait 48 hours. And if they are waiting for things to get really, really bad, then all they have to do is wait 72 hours...

US population are more concentrated in large cities, European population are more distributed in small/medium towns and villages.
The more population density the higher infection rates.
Martial Law should be a must. In Spain the president has ordered today another 15 days period of home confinement .

What is interesting is (as the below article points out) Germany's death rate is much lower than other countries, esp. Italy's. So far, nobody knows why, but the article discusses these points:
