It's hard being a conscientious objector in the millitarised UEE culture, where private citizens are allowed and even encouraged to own fighting ships such as the Gladius or Hornet... Even Ninetails pirates spit the word Civilian (showing you haven't been through military service to be come a Citizen) when telling you to push off, and they are outlaws who really should abhor anything UEE.
Just goes to shoe how ingrained it is post-messa era. *sigh*
